â—¤ Following the self-nomination period, CAREC members will select candidates for the Executive Committee through an online election from Monday, April 27 to Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Studying Artifacts of Early Childhood Education Research in Canada: Continuing the Project of Inciting and Sustaining Radical Dialogues

We invite graduate students and early career scholars to participate in the CAREC Pre-Conference on May 30, 2026 at the University of Winnipeg, Manitoba and 2 virtual study sessions ahead of the event.
Participants will pose a concern or concept– drawn from CAREC’s commitments, constitution, archival documents, or other artifacts– that summon the inheritances of early childhood education research in Canada. We want to ask: What concepts, inheritances, tensions, or possibilities within the landscape of early childhood research in Canada demand our attention, refusal, rethinking, or reinvention?
At the pre-conference, participants will not “present” research in a conventional sense, but will instead offer a proposition (which may be a disruptive, generative, possibly radical provocation) that will invite the pre-conference attendees into shared acts of study during the afternoon breakout sessions. Propositions should be accompanied by an artifact that will gather us; for example, a reading excerpt, gesture, image, word, performance, question, or another object for collective study.
Continuing CAREC’s move toward feminist, anti-extractive conferencing practices, graduate student/early career scholar participants will be supported with critical companionship from submission through to the study group at the pre-conference.
